What a job needs beyond the floor itself
The tile or the carpet is the part people shop for, but it's rarely the part that decides whether a job goes well. A tile floor needs backer board, setting material, cleaners and sealers and the right tools to put it all down. A carpet job needs pad, tack strip and seam tape.

Buying for a crew and buying for a weekend job
A crew needs the right thing today. A tile setter who runs short mid-morning can't wait on a delivery, and that's why contractors come to Highway 412 West. One customer put it plainly: the best part is being able to provide materials on the spot, not just a showroom. Others have said this is where the contractors shop.
A weekend job is a different kind of shopping. If you're laying carpet or tile yourself, tell the counter what the room is, what's under the floor and what you've already bought. Our staff will help you work out the pad, the tools and the supplies, so you don't make a second trip on Sunday, when we're closed.

Getting the setting materials right for the substrate
What goes under tile is as important as the tile, and the right setting material depends on what you're setting onto. A concrete slab, a wood subfloor and a bathroom wall behind a tub are three different conditions, and each one asks for something different underneath.
We carry setting materials from Bostik, Roberts and Stauf, along with Durock cement backer board for the walls and floors that need it. The manufacturer prints directions on every bag and container, and following them closely is what keeps a floor from failing later. Ask us which product suits your tile and your surface.
