Living with a runner on the stairs
Stairs wear unevenly. The edge of each step takes the most pressure, and the middle of the tread sees the most feet. Vacuum with a hose attachment instead of dragging an upright over the edges, and check now and then that nothing has started to loosen along the nosing.
